About Us/ Our Story

Spun & Woven was conceptualized in 2019 with an idea to embrace and promote the art of handloom, handcrafted by our talented Indian Weavers with much Love. We (two admirers of art and authenticity) are bringing authentic weaves together directly from rural weavers’ land. We feel proud to see the intricacy and creations on the looms which takes around 45-60 hours to produce one 6m long fabric. Each of our products is a reminder that what a pair of hands, dipped in love, using ancient techniques can create, can never be replicated on a machine. Making each one of its own kind, which can be treasured forever.

We travel to the weavers’ space (those who do not have direct market access) and handpick & curate our whole collection ourselves. Though, we are a very small set up right now, associated with 8-10 diversified weavers’ collection. However over the next 15-18 months, we aim and seek to empower 50+ artisans' livelihoods and contribute towards making handloom mainstream.

Indian handloom holds a unique place in the world accounting for nearly 90% of the world's handwoven fabric. However in reality our weavers don’t get their deserving due. We highly appreciate the diligence of weavers and bring their art to reach those who love and love to explore/support Indian traditional creativity and authenticity. By purchasing our clothing, you are supporting traditional crafts and very talented weavers who have helped create it.
